Our Future Leader?

I thought about mentioning this a couple of days ago when I first heard about it...but I didn't because I was concerned about getting negative comments. Which is ironic, because of course I wanted to point out that Obama doesn't have much of a spine. Hmmmm...

Anyhow, here's the story; draw your own conclusions...

Obama Crushes Audacity of Hope for Disabled Americans and their Families

In a presidential debate last night, Sen. Barack Obama, (D-Ill), said, for the second time this year, that he regretted supporting federal legislation aimed at saving the life of Terri Schiavo. He even suggested the legal efforts to stop Terri's death by dehydration and starvation constituted a "costly" action.

So, there you have it. It's amazing the power "We the people" have over our leaders, and how the will of the American people (overall) was clearly interpreted by the Senate and our other elected officials at that point in time, including Barack. But now he says the whole thing was clearly a mistake... Well, if that bill really did violate his conscience (as distorted as his views were on the Schiavo case,) he personally could have voted against it, right? Upon doing more research, I've discovered that in the Senate it was a "voice vote" so it simply would have meant speaking up and saying "Nay." But peer pressure is a powerful thing.

Maybe he wants to be President because then his one vote really does have the power to pass or stop something. In the Senate, he only wished it did, but he didn't even have the guts to stand alone and now he regrets it...

Obama

I read the article below about Farrakhan endorsing Obama and I shuddered. Obama has amazed me since the first time I saw him. He is such a powerful, charismatic man (unlike Hillary who makes me want to go screaming in the opposite direction.) If I didn't disavow most everything he stands for--I'd vote for him! But seriously, what does he really believe? Those that adore him such as Farrakhan believe he will bring about great change. But, what kind of change is it? And how are his followers being "transformed"? I tend to think this goes beyond mere politics...

In his first major public address since a cancer crisis, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said Sunday that presidential candidate Barack Obama is the "hope of the entire world" that the U.S. will change for the better.

The 74-year-old Farrakhan, addressing an estimated crowd of 20,000 people at the annual Saviours' Day celebration, never outrightly endorsed Obama but spent most of the nearly two-hour speech praising the Illinois senator.

"This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better," he said. "This young man is capturing audiences of black and brown and red and yellow. If you look at Barack Obama's audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed." Read more (it's not long...)
